about US

The Mia Ware Foundation is committed to continuing our mission of educating, raising awareness, and supporting all who have been or will be touched by cancer. It’s a team effort that comes from personal awareness and the knowledge that sharing in the fight against this dreaded disease strengthens all who travel this journey with us. The rewards of all our efforts give hope beyond today’s advances and living life to its fullest beyond tomorrow.

OUR MISSION

Providing a network for those who have been diagnosed with cancer, who have lost a friend, relative or loved one from cancer, and to educate individuals regarding opportunities for early detection; therefore increasing the opportunity for all individuals to live a full, positive, and productive life

Prevention

The following cancer screening guidelines are recommended for those people at average risk for cancer (unless otherwise specified) without any specific symptoms. People at increased risk for certain cancers may need to follow a different screening schedule, such as starting at an earlier age or being screened more often. Those with symptoms that could be related to cancer should see their doctor right away.

Detection

Cancer-related checkups for people aged 20 or older having periodic health exams, a cancer-related checkup should include health counseling, and depending on a person's age and gender, might consist of exams for cancers of the thyroid, oral cavity, skin, lymph nodes, testes, ovaries, as well as for some non-malignant (non-cancerous) diseases.

Treatment

Treatment options and effectiveness have dramatically increased over the last five to ten years due to better technology and a greater understanding of cancer. That being said, treatment options can be overwhelming at times. We have provided you with an outline of different treatment options for different types of cancer. With your doctor's input, it is always best to decide what treatment option(s) would be best for you.

behind our shield

Behind our shield, we have strength; fighting for our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Behind our shield, we have devotion; purposefully striding down a path of perseverance and determination.
Behind our shield, we stand firm; believing and knowing that making a difference is to embody the symbols emblazoned on our crest.
Behind our shield, we have character; forbidding our cancer to define our being but through our being we define our cancer.
Behind our shield, we have numbers; supporting one another because we're in this fight together.
Behind our shield, we have faith; faith in ourselves, our friends, and our family.
Behind our shield, we have sadness; accepting life for its natural progression.
